PAT Commissions Fifth Fully Automated Crimping Machine Tuesday, 17th May 2005
With the recent commissioning of another automated crimping machine, Pasdec Automotive Technologies (PAT) has taken a further important step towards upgrading its production facility to the highest international standard.
The CrimpCenter 60 is one the most advanced machines of its kind in the world and is manufactured by Schleuniger, an independently owned, multinational group of companies headquartered in Switzerland. Schleuniger, through its South African distributor GTC Cable Processing Solutions, was awarded the contract because, as the industry leader in precision wire processing solutions, Schleuniger products are renowned worldwide for performance, reliability and economy of operation.
Keith Turner, PAT’s director operations, also states that the level of service offered by GTC was an important factor in their selection. “These sophisticated machines,” says Keith, “which are linked via modem to Schleuniger support teams in Germany, require a high standard of local support. We are confident that GTC’s technical staff are adequately trained to meet our requirements.” Jose Flamengo, PAT’s manufacturing manager is impressed with the CrimpCentre’s performance. “In addition to significant productivity gains,” says Jose, “the Schleuniger crimping machine offers user-friendly operation, consistent product quality and excellent reliability.
These are important ingredients in the production of world-class cable harnesses.” At the handover of the latest acquisition, Robert Champion of GTC Cable Processing Solutions confirmed that another CrimpCentre 60 has been ordered and will be delivered in June 2005.
