EDI Training a Huge Success

The planning and logistics staff at Pasdec Automotive Technologies recently completed an intensive three day course encompassing the various aspects of EDI (or Electronic Data Transfer).

The training was the next phase in the planned implementation of EDI in line with Pasdec’s on-going commitment to its customers.
The training was given by personnel from QAD’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) division in Barcelona, who travelled to South Africa specifically for the training.
Among the various topics covered over the three days were:

  1. File conversions
  2. EDI formats
  3. Error messaging
  4. Fault analysis
  5. Software configurations

The additional aspects covered are intended to ensure that the end users of the system are not only well versed in the operational aspects of EDI, but are also fully competent in  fault diagnosis should the need arise.

The system, which is universally used in various industries, has many advantages and benefits.
The most obvious benefit is the controlled receipt of the customer’s requirements, both as an on-going forecast and an immediate delivery instruction for daily deliveries.

The customer’s requirements are integrated seamlessly into Pasdec's ERP system, eliminating manual data capture.

An immediate snapshot is then available of the customer’s requirements, and facilitates any necessary changes in production planning, material orders and facilities planning.
