Pasdec Automotive Technologies Officially Opens New Plant in Brits
Monday, 28th February 2005

In order to accommodate higher production demand arising from the current expansion and export programme, as well as to allow for future growth, Pasdec Automotive Technologies (PAT) will soon be opening a second plant in premises it recently acquired in the Brits industrial area.

From now on the current and the new facilities will be known as Plant 1 and Plant 2 respectively. Plant 1 will predominantly be an assembly plant with stores and dispatch areas, while Plant 2 will be used for cut and crimp, battery cable and extrusion activities. The new Plant 2 building required extensive renovation, which commenced in December 2004 and is scheduled for completion end February 2005.

Due to the relatively short time period available in which to meet the completion deadline, the services of a number of specialised contractors were engaged. Approximately 100 employees will be relocated from Plant 1 to Plant 2, which will free space for employees currently operating from temporary facilities at Femco. Keith Turner, director operations at PAT believes that through the purchase of the second plant PAT canmore easily upgrade both plants to world-class standards levels during the course of this year to meet the increased volume demands.
